Detecting digital image forgeries using sensor pattern noise

چکیده
We present a new approach to detection of forgeries in digital images under the assumption that either the camera that took the image is available or other images taken by that camera are available. Our method is based on detecting the presence of the camera pattern noise, which is a unique stochastic characteristic of imaging sensors, in individual regions in the image. The forged region is determined as the one that lacks the pattern noise. The presence of the noise is established using correlation as in detection of spread spectrum watermarks. We proposed two approaches. In the first one, the user selects an area for integrity verification. The second method attempts to automatically determine the forged area without assuming any a priori knowledge. The methods are tested both on examples of real forgeries and on non-forged images. We also investigate how further image processing applied to the forged image, such as lossy compression or filtering, influences our ability to verify image integrity.

Exposing Digital Forgeries by Detecting Duplicated Image Regions
We describe an efficient technique that automatically detects duplicated regions in a digital image. This technique works by first applying a principal component analysis to small fixedsize image blocks to yield a reduced dimension representation. This representation is robust to minor variations in the image due to additive noise or lossy compression. Duplicated regions are then detected by le...
متن کاملImaging Sensor Noise as Digital X-Ray for Revealing Forgeries
In this paper, we describe a new forensic tool for revealing digitally altered images by detecting the presence of photo-response non-uniformity noise (PRNU) in small regions. This method assumes that either the camera that took the image is available to the analyst or at least some other nontampered images taken by the camera are available. Forgery detection using the PRNU involves two steps –...
متن کاملDetecting Copy-Move Forgeries in Scanned Text Documents
The detection of copy–move forgeries has been studied extensively, however all known methods were designed and evaluated for digital images depicting natural scenes. In this paper, we address the problem of detecting and localizing copy–move forgeries in images of scanned text documents. The purpose of our analysis is to study how block-based detection of near-duplicates performs in this applic...

Automatic, efficient, accurate, and stable image matching is one of the most critical issues in remote sensing, photogrammetry, and machine vision. In recent decades, various algorithms have been proposed based on the feature-based framework, which concentrates on detecting and describing local features. Understanding the characteristics of different matching algorithms in various applications ...
متن کاملBoosting Image Forgery Detection using Resampling Features and Copy-move analysis
Realistic image forgeries involve a combination of splicing, resampling, cloning, region removal and other methods. While resampling detection algorithms are effective in detecting splicing and resampling, copy-move detection algorithms excel in detecting cloning and region removal. In this paper, we combine these complementary approaches in a way that boosts the overall accuracy of image manip...
